This Weekend: How Bazaar! Getting a Jump Start on Your Local Holiday Shopping

This is one of a few choice weekends for many local churches and organizations to hold their annual holiday bazaars. Here's a list to help plan your day and be sure not to miss any. Happy local shopping!

Western Coventry: From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, the Western Coventry Elementary School PTA will host its Annual Craft Show and Holiday Bazaar. Featured will be crafts, gifts, jewelry, food, games, a penny social and carolers!

Senior Center: From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, the Coventry Senior Center located at 50 Wood St., will hold its Christmas Bazaar featuring crafts, gifts, holiday decor, baked goods, Straw Draw game and more.

Metcalf School: On Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Exeter-West Greenwich PTA will host its Annual Holiday Bazaar at Metcalf Elementary School, located at 30 Nooseneck Hill Rd., Exeter. There will be more than 50 vendors, pictures with Santa, penny social, kid's shopping area, bake sale, raffles and more. Refreshments will be available at the Holiday Cafe.

Phenix Baptist: This Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Phenix Baptist Church, located at 2 Fairview Ave., West Warwick, will hold a Winter Wonderland Bazaar. Come shop for handmade gift items, bake sale, Grandma's Attic (White Elephant), and more. The Snowflake Cafe will also be open, as well as a Kid's Only Gift Shopping Room with helpers and free gift wrapping.

Shepherd of the Valley: From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Shepherd of the Valley United Methodist Church, located at 604 Seven Mile Rd., Hope, will hold its Annual Holiday Splendor Bazaar. Guests can shop the bakery, artisan candy store, country store, crafters, 2,100+ themed gift baskets and more. The Chat & Chew will also be open for meals or snacks.

VFW Post 446: From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, the VFW Post 446, located at 197 Providence St., West Warwick, will host a Holiday Shopping Event. The bazaar will offer gift baskets, Scentsy products, Avon items, handcrafted jewelry and more.

Riverpoint Church: This Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Riverpoint Congregational Church, located at 75 Providence St., West Warwick, presents its Christmas at Coney Island Holiday Bazaar. Featured will be holiday crafts, penny social raffle, White Elephant, homemade fudge, food gifts and a bake sale. Coney Island hot dogs and more will be available for lunch.

Truckin' For Tots: This Saturday, Dec. 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Coventry-West Greenwich Elks Lodge #2285, located at 42 Nooseneck Hill Rd., West Greenwich, will host the 31st Truckin' For Tots fundraising campaign. The event is co-sponsored by the New England Van Council, US Marine Reserves and the Elks. Admission is one new toy per adult. All are welcome to come and enjoy the festivities. 

VFW Post 9404: On Saturday, Dec. 7 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Vets Helping Vets will hold an indoor yard sale at VFW Post 9404, located at 20 South Main St. Donations are accepted as of Dec. 5 by calling 828-9705.

Paine House Open House: From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, the Western RI Civic Historical Society/Paine House Association will hold its Christmas Open House in the historic Paine House, located at 7 Station St. Refreshments will be served. All are welcome!

Holiday Concert: At 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday, the Pawtuxet Valley Community Chorus will present "There's Christmas in the Air". The concert will be held in the West Warwick High School auditorium at 1 Webster Knight Dr., West Warwick. Call 862-3105 for tickets or more information.
