Five Things, July 24: School District Updates, Dog Park Volunteers and More

Today is Wednesday, July 24, 2013 and here are five things you should know about.

CPL "Under" Storytime: At 2 p.m. today, the Coventry Public Library will host a performance by professional storyteller Carolyn Martino for children ages 5-12. Ms. Martino will share funny stories about everything UNDER - under the ground, under the house, under a rock, under the pillows and more! No registration is required.

School Committee Topics: The Coventry School Committee will hold a public meeting at 7 p.m. tonight at the School Dept. Administration Offices (1675 Flat River Rd.). Topics up for discussion include approval of the district's Homework Policy, 2013-2014 School Calendar revisions, evaluation results and more. Click here to view this evening's agenda.

Dog Park Fundraising Help: Lisa Finneran, President of the newly-formed Coventry Dog Park Association, is looking for volunteers to help raise donations to go towards building the highly-anticipated dog park behind the Town Hall Annex on Flat River Road. If you are interested, or have suggestions for raising funds, contact Lisa at Lfinneran12@gmail.com.

Pasta Dinner Fundraiser THIS SATURDAY: Tickets are now available for the fundraising event, "Raising the Roof On Humanity", a pasta dinner organized by the wives and significant others of the Central Coventry firefighters, with the hopes of raising enough money to repair the leaking roof of the late CCFD Battalion Chief Bill Hall's house. The dinner will be held from 4-8 p.m. at the West Warwick Elks Club (60 Clyde St., West Warwick) and will cost $10 for adults and $5 for children. Tickets can be reserved by emailing events@ccdfaux.org. For more information, visit www.ccfdaux.org.

Building Committee Meeting: The Coventry School Building Committee will meet briefly at 5:30 p.m. this evening at the School Administration offices (1675 Flat River Rd.) to discuss the progress that has been made so far on the bonded school district projects approved by voters in November. Click here for tonight's agenda.
