Five Things, July 12: CCFD Board Meeting, Extra Innings and More

Today is Friday, July 12, 2013 and here are five things you should know about.

CCFD Board Meeting: Tonight at 7:30 p.m., the newly-elected Central Coventry Fire District Board of Directors will meet at the CCFD Tax Collector's Office, located in the Town Hall Annex on Flat River Road. Members will appoint committees, elect a Board President and Vice President, and discuss plans for the district's ladder truck. Click here to view this evening's agenda.

Extra Innings at the Pitcher's Mound: Tonight from 8 p.m. to midnight, come to The Pitcher's Mound (620 Tiogue Ave.) for a 21+ event to benefit the Easter Seals of RI. $10 admission includes food, door prize voucher and live music by Dead Blues Society! Cash bar and food will also be available. Proceeds will benefit Easter Seals RI children and young adults with special needs and disabilities who are participating in Early Intervention and Pediatric Outpatient services.

Artisans and Crafters: The Friends of the Coventry Public Library are now accepting applications for artisans and crafters for the 3rd Annual Fall Artisan Fair to be held on Saturday, Oct. 5. Contact Virginia at lynchkids96@verizon.net or call (401) 826-1122 for an application or more information.

This Weekend - Summer Concert: The second show of the Coventry Parks & Recreation Department 2013 Sunday Night Summer Concert Series will take place at 6 p.m. on July 14 at Paine Field (1277 Main St.). Get the family together to enjoy an evening of music by Vini-Ames & Sh-Bop, a golden oldies rock & roll group that will transport you back to those memorable days of hot rods, poodle skirts and malt shops! (In the event of inclement weather, the show will take place in the Community Center.)

The dinner will be held from 4-8 p.m. at the West Warwick Elks Club (60 Clyde St., West Warwick) and will cost $10 for adults and $5 for children.
