This Weekend in Coventry: Movie Night at Indigo, Pink Heals Food Drive and More

Here are just a handful of ideas to kickstart your weekend planning.

Tour a Historical Coventry Landmark! Did you know that Spring 2013 marked the Nathanael Greene Homestead's 89th season as a museum? Take a tour at 50 Taft Street in Coventry to learn all about Revolutionary War general Nathanael Greene who lived in the home, known as Spell Hall, from 1770 to 1776. Tours are given Fridays, Saturdays (and Mondays too!) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays, from 1-5 p.m. Click here to visit the Homestead's Facebook page for more information.

Tent Revival: From 6-9 p.m. this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the Church of the Apostles (170 Fairview Ave., Coventry) is hosting a Tent Meeting entitled "Hope Is Our Anchor, Renewing Rhode Island with the Gospel of Christ". Weekend Fun at CPL: On Saturday mornings, the Coventry Public Library hosts Drop-In Crafts to Make & Take where children of all ages can create a fun craft project to take him. Also offered on Saturday mornings is Drop-In Games, during which kids of any change can play board games with friends. No registration required.

Pink Heals Food Drive: This Saturday, members of Coventry's CERT team will be stationed at Dave's Marketplace in Shoppers Park from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to collect food and grocery gift certificates for RI Pink Heals, an organization that benefits cancer patients and their families. So if you have some Labor Day Weekend shopping to do, consider donating an item or two to a great cause!

Give Blood at OTD: Feel like doing something heroic this weekend? If so, consider donating blood between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday at Olde Theater Diner (33 Sandy Bottom Rd.) where the RI Blood Center Bloodmobile will be stationed. Up to three lives can be saved with just one donation!

Drive-In Night at Indigo: From 7-11 p.m. Saturday, Indigo Pizza & Lounge (599 Tiogue Ave.) will host a showing two great movies out on the patio on a 20-foot screen! From 7-8:30, the animated family film, "Epic" will be shown, followed by the adult-only comedy, "Ted" at 9:30. Cost is $5 per person, per movie, which includes pizza, popcorn and juice/water during the movie. Feel free to bring a lawn chair and/or blanket. In the event of rain, the movies will be shown inside.

PYO Berries: From 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday at Alpacas of Harkney Hill (1394 Harkney Hill Rd.), customers can "Pick Your Own" low and high-growing wild blueberries and huckleberries to purchase. Informational alpaca demonstrations are also offered at 9:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes! For more information, call 397-4761.
