Monday Essentials: Council Meeting, Free Chicken and More

Today is Monday, Aug. 19, 2013 and here are five things to know about the week ahead.

Meeting of the Council: The Coventry Town Council will meet tonight, Aug. 19 at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers at Town Hall. Click here to view this evening's agenda.

CPL Summer Reading Awards: On Tuesday at 10 a.m., participants of Coventry Public Library's "Dig Into Reading" summer reading program are invited to a magic show performed by Malik the Magic Guy! Following the show, certificates and prizes will be awarded to children who have completed the reading requirements. Refreshments will be served. No registration required.

Free Chicken Samples! From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, stop by Walmart (650 Centre of New England Blvd.) to check out the "Cooked Perfect Bites Mobile Sampling Tour". Cooked Perfect representatives will be handing out free samples of their chicken snack bites, while offering the chance to play fun games, listen to music and, receive coupons and participate in giveaways. One Week Until Book Club: For those of you making your way through this month's Coventry Public Library book group selection, The Scent of Rain and Lightning by Nancy Pickard, don't forget that the group's next meeting will be held a week from today (Aug. 26) at 1 p.m. 

Breakfast in August: On Friday, Aug. 23, the Coventry Senior Center, located at 50 Wood Street, will hold its monthly breakfast from 7:30-9 a.m. For just $3, guests will enjoy scrambled eggs, choice of bacon or sausage, pancakes or English muffin, with juice, coffee or tea. All are welcome!
