Driver Dies Following Early Morning Crash Saturday

The fatal crash occurred shortly after 1 a.m. in the area of 1117 Main Street in Coventry.

Officials have confirmed that the driver involved in Saturday morning's crash on Main Street in Coventry has died from injuries sustained when the late-model Porsche he was driving struck a utility pole. 

According to police, Kasyl Ilarraza, 48, of 20 Sweet Lane in North Kingstown died after being admitted to Rhode Island Hospital following the accident that occurred around 1 a.m. Saturday.

Reports say Ilarraza was traveling west on Main Street when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a chain-link fence and telephone pole. Coventry police said no apparent skid marks from braking were found by investigators.

The Jaws of Life were need to extricate the victim from the car.
