This Weekend: Bass Fishing Tourney, WG Craft Show and More

Here are just a handful of ideas to kickstart your weekend planning.

Tour a Historical Coventry Landmark! Did you know that Spring 2013 marked the Nathanael Greene Homestead's 89th season as a museum? Take a tour at 50 Taft Street in Coventry to learn all about Revolutionary War general Nathanael Greene who lived in the home, known as Spell Hall, from 1770 to 1776. Tours are given Fridays, Saturdays (and Mondays too!) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays, from 1-5 p.m. Click here to visit the Homestead's Facebook page for more information.

Weekend Fun at CPL: On Saturday mornings, the Coventry Public Library hosts Drop-In Crafts to Make & Take where children of all ages can create a fun craft project to take him. Also offered on Saturday mornings is Drop-In Games, during which kids of any change can play board games with friends. No registration required.

Hopkins Hollow Cemetery Meeting: The Hopkins Hollow Cemetery Corporation will hold its Annual Meeting on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 10 a.m. at Hopkins Hollow Church in Greene. All interested parties are invited to attend.

Greene Library Dedication: From 3-4 p.m. on Saturday, the Wantaknowhow Garden Club will hold a special Bench Dedication ceremony at Greene Public Library (179 Hopkins Hollow Rd., Greene). The bench will be dedicated in honor of Miss Mittie Arnold. All are welcome to attend.

Pawtuxet River Bass Fishing Tourney: Register today to save $10 on entry to the First Annual Open Bass Fishing Team Tournament, scheduled for this Saturday, Sept. 14! The event organized by the Pawtuxet River Authority & Watershed Council in association with the Scituate RI Bass Anglers will run from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Johnson's Pond/Flat River Reservoir at Colwell's Campground on Flat River Road in Coventry. There is an eight fish limit and will be a 100% payout! Prepaid entry is $110, $120 cash at ramp. For an entry form and more details, call 330-0812, 615-7039 or email pra@pawtuxet.org.

PYO Berries: From 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday at Alpacas of Harkney Hill (1394 Harkney Hill Rd.), customers can "Pick Your Own" low and high-growing wild blueberries and huckleberries to purchase. Informational alpaca demonstrations are also offered at 9:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes! For more information, call 397-4761.

West Greenwich Craft Show: This Sunday, Sept. 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Hianloland Fire Company (270 Victory Hwy. [Rte. 102], West Greenwich) is hosting its 37th Annual Arts, Crafts & Collectibles Show. The day will feature crafts, a book sale, jewelry, a blood drive, clamcakes & chowder and more!
