Five Things, July 17: Ronald McDonald, Steak Fry Reservations and More

Today is Wednesday, July 17, 2013 and here are five things you should know about.

Ronald McDonald Visit: At 11 a.m. today, the Coventry Public Library (1670 Flat River Rd.) will host everyone's favorite clown, Ronald McDonald! Children ages 3 and up are invited to enjoy a 30-minute magic show performed by Ronald himself! No registration required.

Steak Fry Reservations: Today is the final day to make reservations for the Coventry Men's Club Steak Fry & Chicken Dinner, to be held on July 19 at 7 p.m. A steak dinner is $12.99, chicken is $10.99. Live music will follow the meal. Reservations may be made by calling 385-3536.

Tennis Lesson Registration: Register today for the Coventry Parks & Recreation Department's Summer Tennis Lessons for Adults Only (Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6-7:30 p.m.) that rungs from July 18-August 8. Cost is $25 for all seven classes. Registration is ongoing in the Parks & Rec office from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. Call 822-9107 for more information.

Dog Park Meeting: Dog owners in Coventry rejoice! At 7 p.m. tomorrow, July 18, the first meeting of the Coventry Dog Park Association will take place at the Coventry Community Center. The Association is seeking volunteers to begin raising funds for the creation of the park. Click here for more information.

Food Bank Help for July: The spirit of independence is on full display this July as Independent Grocers in RI devote the entire month to collecting food for the RI Community Food Bank (which benefits the Coventry Community Food Bank). Tom's Market on Tiogue Ave. will be participating this year. The Food Bank's most-needed items include tuna, canned and dried beans, brown rice, canned soups, peanut butter, breakfast cereals, whole wheat pasta and canned fruits/vegetables.
