School Committee to Discuss 2014 Budget Tonight (and 4 More Things)

    School Committee Meeting: Members of the Coventry School Committee will meet tonight at 7 p.m. at the School Administration Offices (1675 Flat River Road). Click here to view this evening's agenda.

    Big Boned BBQ Deadline: Today is the last day to register for the Coventry Senior Center's annual Big Boned Barbecue, scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 24 from 5-7 p.m. Menu includes pulled pork, BBQ chicken, baked beans, cole slaw, vegetable, corn bread, coffee tea and dessert. $7 per person of $26 per family of four. Tickets may be purchased in the Senior Center front office at 50 Wood Street.

    Basket-Making at NEFA: From 7-8:30 p.m. tonight, New England Farm and Artist (NEFA), (1112 Main Street), is offering a beginner's basket-making class, taught by accomplished musician, farmer, artist and basket-maker, Jennifer Cooke. The class is $35 per person and includes a pre-cut basket to work with.     Dog Park Fundraising Help: Lisa Finneran, President of the newly-formed Coventry Dog Park Association, is looking for volunteers to help raise donations to go towards building the highly-anticipated dog park behind the Town Hall Annex on Flat River Road. If you are interested, or have suggestions for raising funds, contact Lisa at Lfinneran12@gmail.com.

    Plan Ahead - 'Shocktober' at Paine House: Register today! At 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, members of the Western RI Historical Society invite the public to experience a Shocktober event with spirits of Paine! (Paine House Museum of course, located at 7 Station Street.) Special guests include Andrea Perron, author of House of Darkness House of Light; Chris Rodina, author of Vampires of New England and Ghosts Ships of New England. $20 admission fee includes ghost tours of Paine House and the Pine Grove Cemetery by RISEUP, local ghost stories, folklore and refreshments.
