  Lincoln Woods Barracks At 11:30 p.m. on Oct. 6, Troopers arrested Mathew Mowry, 21, of 26 Pond View Dr., Coventry, for Possession of Marijuana. The arrest was a result of a motor vehicle stop on Douglas Avenue at Goddard Street in the City of Providence. At 2:20 a.m. on Oct. 6, Troopers arrested Ryan Maynard, 22, of 46 Wisteria Dr., Coventry, for 1.) Duty to Stop in Accidents Resulting in Personal Injury, 2.) Driving Under the Influence of Liquor or Drugs – 1st Offense, 3.) Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test. The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle accident investigation on Route 95 South at Thurbers Ave. in the City of Providence. Coventry Police and Fire to Host Public Safety Day

The event will allow residents to learn about the daily operations of the various Coventry public safety departments.

  On Saturday, Sept. 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., residents will have the opportunity to join Coventry firefighters and police officers for a hands-on experience at the town's Public Safety Day. The event will be held in the vacant lot next door to Burger King (OK, the old Almacs or Kmart Plaza to most) and will provide a unique chance for Coventry residents, young and old, to experience what their emergency responders do on a daily basis to keep the community safe.  The day will include demonstrations by accelerant-sniffing dog, Jack, a "Jaws of Life" demonstration in which residents can participate in a mock extrication and a smoke-filled Fire Simulator that guests can experience while wearing firefighter gear and breathing masks. …

  Back-seat baby fails to dissuade raging roaster Road reportedly rage got the better of a 20-year-old Barrington man late Wednesday morning, May 23, after he allegedly pounded on the roof of a car driven by the woman with a baby in the back seat after he thought she cut him off at an intersection. Both vehicles pulled off Country Road in Barrington into Police Cove, a parking area. While the woman was contacting the police, the man allegedly ran up to her vehicle and began pounding on the roof while yelling at her. Several police patrol cars raced to police cove, police said.   Police Find Suspect – Up a Tree Sometimes firefighters rescue kittens from trees. And sometimes, they rescue fully-grown men suspected of assault out of trees, which coincidentally happened this past week in Johnston. Police arrived at the 25-year-old man’s home after the man allegedly assaulted a 61-year-old man by dragging him down a flight of stairs and knocking him unconscious, eventually sending him to the hospital with broken ribs. After drafting up a warrant, officers went to go look for the man at his home — only to find the man “standing in a tree approximately six feet off the ground,” according to reports.   "What do you mean I can't take this boat out?" Barrington police were called last Wednesday evening to question a young man getting out of a row boat at a private dock in Barrington who used the vessel without permission. The man admitted it was not his boat, which is owned by a Warren man. He said “the current in the river was too strong” and he could not return the boat to the other side. He was looking for a ride back to his cousin’s house. Barrington police said the man was from New York and was visiting a cousin in Warren.   Man run over trying to stop drunk driver An allegedly drunk driver pulled into Metacomet Country Club in East Providence and one vigilant citizen decided he would not let him leave. Following the erratic driver's Dodge into the country club parking lot, the man stood in front of the vehicle to take down his license plate number and corral it until officers arrived, according to police. That's when the drunk driver allegedly drove his vehicle into the man's leg, breaking a front light and sending the him onto the hood of the car. The man allegedly tried to grab the windshield wiper for support but fell to the ground. A witness came to help and a fight ensued. Jaws of Life Needed After Knotty Oak Area Rollover

Driver headed to hospital after crash on Wednesday afternoon.

  Update - 5:16 p.m.: According to Anthony Fire Deputy Chief Robert Warren, the driver who was alone in the vehicle was transported to Kent Hospital with minor injuries after rolling her mini van on its side. Coventry Police Officer Rich Pendola held the woman's hand through a window during the extrication to keep her calm. "We think she may have went up on a wall and rolled the van," said Warren. "She did have minor injuries, but nothing life-threatening." 3:42 p.m.: A motorist was taken to Kent County Hospital in Warwick after rolling her car at Knotty Oak Rd. and Gervais St. shortly after 3:30 on Wednesday afternoon.
