Coventry Beats Prout In Rematch Of Last Year’s Finals

The more experienced Oakers won this round of the rivalry, 3-1.

The girls’ volleyball teams from Coventry High and The Prout School staged the latest chapter in their budding rivalry in the Crusaders’ hot, humid gym Wednesday night. Unlike last year’s Division I state finals in which Prout swept the Oakers, Coventry defeated the two-time defending champions this time around, 25-14, 23-25, 25-11, 25-21. The rosters for both teams have changed quite a bit since they last faced each other. Prout graduated their three best players, All-Staters Elise Walsh, Emily Caswell and Addie Pendergast. Coventry also graduated three key players, All-Stater Courtney DiBiasio and All-Division players Hannah Cole and Samantha Niquette. This year’s Prout team features a lot of young players with limited varsity experience…
