DUI Suspect to Police: ‘I Ran For God Damn Congress!’

Former Dist. 2 congressional candidate Michael G. Riley, 56, is charged with resisting arrest and drunken driving early Wednesday morning in Narragansett.

Unless otherwise noted, information about the following incidents was supplied by the Narragansett Police Department and files at Fourth Division District Court in Wakefield. An arrest does not indicate a conviction. Michael G. Riley, 56, of 444 Ocean Road, Narragansett, a former Dist. 2 republican nominee for Congress, was arrested at about 2 a.m. Wednesday by Narragansett police and charged with drunken driving and resisting arrest, both misdemeanors, and cited for refusing to submit to a chemical test. According to Narragansett Police Department reports, patrolman James M. Fitzgerald was monitoring traffic from the parking lot of Maridee Bait and Tackle at about 1:45 a.m. Fitzgerald wrote that he saw a grey Lexus traveling south on …

@lori Arnold You make a lot of claims but never support any of them. You hide behind your computer with an alias and spew venom at the cops. Please explain your vendetta... The report says he was coming from Poncho's. He was only stopped once but was so intoxicated that he thought he had been stopped three times. There is no conspiracy and most of the people, like Riley, who hang at Poncho's don'…   more ›

As Station Nightclub Anniversary Approaches, Langevin Announces Fire Safety Bill

Fire Sprinkler Incentive Act would help with costs of fire prevention.

Ahead of tomorrow’s tenth anniversary of the Station Night Club fire in West Warwick that killed 100 people and left hundreds more injured, Congressman Jim Langevin (D-RI) has announced he will reintroduce legislation that would reduce the cost and impact of fires by encouraging the placement of automatic sprinklers in all multi-unit residential and commercial structures. The Fire Sprinkler Incentive Act was inspired by the 2003 fire and findings that thousands of Americans lose their lives each year because of buildings that lack adequate fire prevention systems. The legislation, which has received support from the American Fire Sprinkler Association and the Rhode Island Association of Fire Chiefs, allows small and medium size property …

Independent Collins "Looks Forward to Winning" Debates against Langevin, Riley

Abel Collins said when polling numbers come in for the Second Congressional District, the numbers will show his campaign is extremely viable.

Abel Collins, an Independent candidate for Rhode Island’s Second Congressional District, has never run a political campaign and is facing off against a 12-year- incumbent Democrat in the U.S. House of Representatives and a Republican-party backed former Wall Street executive. Put the 33-year-old South Kingstown native in front of a microphone, however, and you won’t hear much doubt come through the speakers. At a press conference in his Cranston campaign headquarters last week, Collins boldly asserted that his campaign will be a force to reckon with come November and that he looks forward to debating his opponents — Democrat James Langevin and Republican Mike Riley — and “looks forward to winning the upcoming debates.” Collins said he …

I suggested two very real ways to lower gas prices that have a far greater likelihood of working than the Keystone Pipeline. I consider that an adequate reply. I could go into more depth about environmental impacts, but I do have a campaign to attend to. What suggests to you that I'm not conversant on the issues? As for Riley, the specialist firm that he ran for TD Bank, Letco, and that was later…   more ›
