CHS Literacy Teacher Awarded Crystal Apple

Horace Mann presented the award to Becky Haynes for excellence in education.

  Coventry High School faculty members recently gathered in the school's Media Center for a staff meeting. What one unsuspecting teacher didn't know is that she wasn't just there for Professional Development, but also to be recognized by colleagues for her terrific work. While surrounded by fellow educators, English teacher Rebecca Haynes was greeted with an enthusiastic round of applause when her name was announced as the Crystal Apple recipient. The award, presented by Horace Mann Insurance Company, recognizes educators across Rhode Island who are strategic, professional, collaborative, supportive and reflective. CHS Educator Receives Crystal Apple Award

  On Tuesday afternoon, Coventry High School faculty members gathered in the school's cafeteria for a staff training session. What one unsuspecting teacher didn't know is that she was about to be recognized by her colleagues for her outstanding work. Colleen Manuppelli from Horace Mann Insurance Company joined the faculty to present one of the company's "Crystal Apple" awards that recognizes educators across Rhode Island who are strategic, professional, collaborative, supportive and reflective. Tiogue School Staff Receives Crystal Apple

Faculty members were surprised with an award honoring them for their success as individuals and as a team.

  Early Wednesday morning, faculty and staff from Tiogue Elementary School gathered in the school's library for what they thought was a routine faculty meeting. What they did not know was that their principal, Louise Seitsinger, had arranged for them to receive Horace Mann's Crystal Apple award in acknowledgement of their hard work and dedication to student throughout the school year. Principal Seitsinger and Horace Mann's Donna Foisy presented the award to a surprised crowd, which made the honor that much more satisfying. Educators Recognized at Alan Shawn Feinstein Middle School

Faculty and staff were honored at a surprise presentation on Wednesday.

  On Wednesday afternoon, members of the ASFMS staff stayed after school for their monthly advisory meeting. The meeting differed this month when they were asked to assemble in the school's auditorium for an unexpected presentation. When everyone was settled, a slideshow began that featured photos of faculty and staff members, accompanied by inspirational quotes about teachers and sound bytes from ASFMS students both past and present that described how their middle school experiences shaped and prepared them for the future. The 11-minute long slideshow was set to music such as Ben E. King's "Stand by Me", "I'll Be There for You" by The Rembrandts, "The Show Goes On" by Lupe Fiasco and Natalie Merchant's "Thank You".
