Coventry to Hold Flu Shot Clinic Saturday

Health Department reports high flu activity in RI, vaccination demand causing sporadic shortages.

  The CDC reports an elevated number of flu cases in the US, with the RI Department of Health reporting widespread flu, but Coventry will soon have a vaccination clinic to keep you healthy. The flu clinic will be offered on Saturday, Jan. 19 at Coventry High School, 40 Reservoir Rd., from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for people six months and older. There is no cost for any vaccination and health insurance is not a requirement at public clinics. Anyone who is insured should bring his or her insurance card. In addition to the flu vaccine, pertussis (whooping cough) and pneumonia vaccines will also be available at Coventry's clinic. Blue Cross Announces Flu Shot Sites

Four pharmacies in Coventry are among the 125+ locations statewide.

Four locations in Coventry — CVS,  Rite Aid, Stop & Shop and Phusion Pharmacy — are among 125 sites where members of Blue Cross/Blue Shield can go for flu shots, the health insurer announced on Sept. 12. In a press release, BCBSRI stated that its goal is to improve on the roughly 50-percent flu shot rate from 2010. “Thanks to this innovative new program, BCBSRI members age nine and older can now walk right into a participating pharmacy in Rhode Island, show their insurance card and get their flu shot at no cost," said Blue Cross Senior V.P. and Chief Medical Officer Gus Manocchia in the statement.
