Police, Town and School Officials Review School Safety
Beginning Dec. 21 until further notice there will be a police officer positioned in each Coventry school as a precaution.
In response to the tragic events in Newtown, Ct. last week, the Coventry School Department and Coventry Police Department have been involved in planning a response to a potential incident in our community. The initial steps of reviewing response plans and increasing police presence at our public schools began early in the week and culminated this afternoon with a meeting between town, school and police officials. A direct result of this meeting was the formation of a school safety committee comprised of school, police and fire officials tasked with identifying vulnerabilities within school facilities and response plans.
