Coventry Schools Safety and Security Highlights

The Coventry Public School’s District Safety & Security Committee has released the following highlights as part of the forthcoming school safety action plan.

  In the wake of the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT, the school department has teamed with the Town of Coventry, Coventry Police and Fire Departments to review and assess school safety and security. Early after this event, the District Safety & Security Committee met to begin the process. Click here for details about the newly formed Committee and its members. HIGHLIGHTS Coventry school and town leadership take action to build safer and more secure schools. Detail police officers have been placed at the elementary schools while the Action Plan is being implemented. Below is a summary of the mission statement, structure and membership of the newly formed Safety & Security Committee.

DISTRICT SAFETY & SECURITY PURPOSE STATEMENT Oversee the safety & security of students, employees, families and community members of Coventry Public Schools while on school grounds. Review school structures, systems, policies, procedures and practices related to school safety and security; make recommendations to School Committee for approval.  The District Safety & Security Committee is a standing committee appointed by the School Committee. The Committee will meet a minimum of four times a year.
