CPD Recognizes Officer Promotions, New Hires

Coventry Police officers were honored at a ceremony during a recent Town Council meeting.

  At the Feb. 11 meeting of the Coventry Town Council, Police Chief Bryan Volpe led a promotion ceremony for four of Coventry Police Department's officers, as well as the introduction of two new additions: Captain John S. MacDonald Capt. MacDonald graduated from from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics.   He is currently a member of the RI Army National Guard, serving for the past 21 years as well as a Blackhawk Helicopter Pilot, serving two oversees tours. His most notable achievement came in 2005, when he commanded Alpha Company 1st of the 126th Aviation during combat operations in Balad, Iraq. This past year, he served in Kuwait as the Operations Officer for the 1st Battalion 126th Aviation, where he was …

CPD Gains Three New Officers

The officers were sworn in by Town Council members on Monday.

  At Monday night's Town Council meeting, the Coventry Police Department officially recognized its three newest members at a swearing-in ceremony at Town Hall. Family, friends and colleagues of the new officers joined Council members to show support and welcome them to the CPD ranks. Officer Christopher R. Cote Officer Cote, a Burrillville native, moved to Vermont as a child and was home-schooled during his high school years. He went on to attend Plymouth State University and Granite State University, both in New Hampshire, as well as Air University with the U.S. Air Force. He is currently just three credits shy of his bachelor's degree. Officer Cote is a member of the Rhode Island Air Guard 143rd Airlift wing in North Kingstown and holds …

Coventry PD Promotes Five Officers, Swears In Three New Hires

The officers were recognized at a ceremony during Monday night's Town Council meeting.

  Monday evening's Coventry Police Department promotions were as follows:  Promoted to Lieutenant:  Promoted to Sergeant: Also introduced during the ceremony were the Department's three new hires:   Coventry Patch would like to congratulate the officers for achieving their new positions and thank the Coventry Police Department for its service to the community.

Mark, Most police officers who retire do seek further employment. It is very common for those in that 38-45 year old bracket to continue in LE in some form or another. They are not double dipping into our pension system but they may be collection from the dept they retired from…..SO? . There is an upside for Coventry that to me way out weighs the pension issue. No police academy costs to the town…   more ›
