Coventry Police: Help Prevent Theft From Vehicles

Police urge residents to lock their cars even if parked in their own driveway.

  The Coventry Police Dept. is asking residents for their help in preventing theft from vehicles, which continues to be an ongoing problem for law enforcement statewide. Officer Peter Vieira urges all vehicle owners to lock their cars, even while they are parked in their driveway. According to Off. Vieira, nearly all thieves move on to an easier target if they find a car locked. "Lock all your vehicles when they are unoccupied," reads a community service announcement from CPD. "Securing your vehicles will be a great deterrence from having personal items stolen. The majority of recent thefts from vehicles occurred when the victim left his or her vehicle unlocked while it was unattended." Residents are asked to report any suspicious activity…

Coventry to Take Part in Statewide Prescription Drug Take Back Day

Coventry residents are encouraged to dispose of expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs at the Town Hall Annex on Saturday.

  After tremendous success the past two years in removing dangerous prescription drugs from Rhode Island homes, Attorney General Peter F. Kilmartin is once again lending his support to local and state law enforcement agencies participating in the statewide Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 27. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Office of Attorney General, the US Dept. of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration, the Rhode Island State Police and more than 30 police departments statewide will give the public another opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.
