Parks & Rec Director Discusses Greenway Construction, Closure
The RIDOT project has caused strife among those who regularly use the bike path.
Months after a new construction project began, causing caution signs and barricades to appear along the western end of Coventry's Greenway bike path, some more light is shed on what can be expected from the finished project. In an investigation by The Hummel Report, Coventry Parks & Recreation Director Guy Lefebvre outlined the year-long, multi-million dollar upgrade for a 2.7 mile stretch from Station Street to Town Farm Road that will include a parallel horse trail when it is finished later this year. He also discussed the reasoning behind completely closing off to the public, the portion of the trail currently under construction - a subject of much dissension among residents who regularly use the path.
