  Detective Bureau On April 8, members of the Financial Crimes, Major Crimes and Fugitive Units arrested Frederick Carrozza, 85, of 6 Carriage Cove, Coventry, RI, for Obtaining Money Under False Pretenses and Conspiracy. Carrozza was processed at State Police Headquarters and released on $10,000.00 personal recognizance after being arraigned in Providence Superior Court. Wickford Barracks On April 13, At 1:51 a.m., a Trooper arrested Peter Hart, 33, of 6 Beaton St., Coventry, RI for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor/Drugs (Phase I .163%; Phase II BAC .167%). The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Route 95 in the City of Warwick. Hart was transported to the Wickford Barracks, processed, and held overnight …

State Police Arrest 22 DUI Suspects During St. Patrick's Day Weekend

A 42-year-old Coventry man was among the 22 subjects arrested.

  Colonel Steven G. O’Donnell, Superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police and Commissioner of Public Safety, announces that as a result of continued efforts to make RI highways safer, members of the Rhode Island State Police arrested 22 subjects for Driving While Intoxicated (DUI) during the St. Patrick’s Day Weekend, including a 22-year-old operator with a two-month old infant in the vehicle. UPDATE: Former Coventry Teacher Arrested After Threats

Todd Gillheeney, a former CHS math teacher was arraigned in Kent County Court this afternoon.

  Update - 4:35 p.m: After undergoing a psychological evaluation, Gillheeney came before Judge Mary McCaffrey in Kent County District Court with his Attorney Thomas G. Gulick, where he was charged with felony threats to public officials and two misdemeanor charges for the alleged harassment of Coventry High School Vice Principals Susan Chandler and Lori Ferguson. Coventry Police Lt. John Shields confirmed that Gillheeney had no prior background of criminal history. No plea was taken.  Judge McCaffrey stated that she did not believe Gillheeney met the criteria for hospitalization, however she did have additional concerns for which she referred him to pretrial services. Coventry Police Recover $50K in Stolen Copper, Arrest 2 Suspects

Both males arrested are Coventry residents.

  On Feb. 6, 2013 Coventry Police Officer Jadine Ferri observed a suspicious vehicle operating on Johnsons Blvd. in Coventry and made note of several large items in the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle then stopped in front of a residence at 90 Johnsons Blvd. Off. Ferri passed her observations on to Coventry Detectives, who began a stakeout of the now parked vehicle.  At about 10:19 a.m. a male, later identified as Greg Waldron, 33 of 315 Station St. entered the vehicle and headed south on Hopkins Hill Rd. The vehicle was followed a short distance by detectives and later stopped on Hopkins Hill Rd. by marked patrol cars where officers discovered copper coils stolen from cell phone towers in East Providence in the rear of Waldron’s vehicle…
