Paiva Wins Outstanding Student Achievement Awards

The CHS graduate earned the awards from Connecticut College.

  Lindsay Paiva, a senior at Connecticut College, was recently awarded the Katherine Finney Memorial Award, which is given to a senior whose undergraduate career exhibits the qualities of leadership, responsibility and integrity which characterized the late Professor Finney's thirty-five years of distinguished service at Connecticut College. She also earned the Charles "Bud" Church Teaching Award for Social Justice given in memory of Charles "Bud" Church, professor from 1992 to 2002, to a student who embodies his critical consciousness about schooling, and who emulates the public voice with which he spoke out about the ongoing political debate over the nature and purpose of education. Coventry Resident Wins Fulbright Research Fellowship

The experience will allow Paiva to spend an academic year in Italy for research purposes.

  Lindsay Paiva, a resident of Coventry and senior at Connecticut College, has been selected to receive a U.S. Fulbright Student Program grant to conduct research in Italy for an academic year. Fulbright fellows receive round-trip transportation to the host country, a living stipend, research allowances and medical insurance. Paiva is one of nine Connecticut College seniors and recent alumni selected to receive a fellowship this year. “The Fulbright is a strong complement to the Connecticut College liberal arts experience, and to receive nine in one year is a testament to the College’s commitment to educate our students to be active citizens in a global society,” Connecticut College President Leo I.
