CHS Music Department Presents Spring Concert

The performance featured selections from chorus and band students and also recognized graduating seniors.

  On Wednesday, May 9, family members and friends, old and young gathered together for the Coventry High School Music Department’s annual Spring Concert. The evening began with director Lisa Masse leading the Concert Chorus in its rendition of the nation's “Star Spangled Banner”, followed by a slower version of “Can You Hear”. The group's next song, “Sinner Man” used a more upbeat tempo used to highlight the male voices within the chorus and was then followed by a more contemporary and modern piece called “Just The Way You Are” highlighting two soloists, Ricky Ordet and Scott Oliver. Sixth Grade Winter Concert Entertains Audience

Sixth graders at the Alan Shawn Feinstein Middle School of Coventry performed Tuesday night before the blizzard hit, wowing parents and friends in the audience.

On Tuesday evening, hours before Coventry was slammed with the first massive blizzard of 2011, the sixth grade musicians at the Alan Shawn Feinstein Middle School of Coventry performed their winter concert. In addition to the sixth grade band and concert chorus, also performing were the select chorus and jazz band, both groups which are made up of students from all different grades. As with most music concerts in Coventry, the audience was packed with friends and families of the students performing. The band performed some holiday tunes, alone with the songs "Rise to Power" and Beethoven's "Ode to Joy." Middle School Winter Concert Delights Audiences

Young musicians performed music they've been learning since September.

The Alan Shawn Feinstein Middle School of Coventry ushered in the holiday season with their annual winter concert series Tuesday and Wednesday last week. On Tuesday evening the 7th grade musicians performed, followed the next evening by the 8th graders. The auditorium at the middle school was packed both nights as families came in droves to hear the holiday music students have been practicing for months. There were other performers both evenings, including the Select Chorus, the Jazz Band, All State singers, and a brass quartet made up of All State students.
