Crock Pot Chili- Part 1

Crock pots are great this time of year, and this dish is one of our favorites!

We love making meals in the crock pot through the fall and winter. All you have to do is put your ingredients into the crock pot in the morning, and by dinnertime you have a delicious, hot meal ready and waiting for you.  This chili recipe is a simple but delicious. Healthy Turkey Chili-- Part 3

The big reveal!

Welcome back, again! After half an hour simmering on the stove, your chili should be ready. You can serve it with shredded cheese and cornbread, with sour cream, or eat it plain. Depending on your diet, you can add or subtract items. The finished product won't look much different from how it looked while you were cooking it, of course, but it should smell great and taste delicious. The beans will provide you with fiber and the lean turkey meat gives you great protein. The tomatoes are packed with vitamins and minerals, and the best part about eating a spicy dish? It will temporarily rev up your metabolism!  Enjoy!

Healthy Turkey Chili-- Part 2

Ready to get cooking? Good! Here we go...

1. In a large pot, heat a few tablespoons of olive oil. Then add the chopped onion and the minced garlic. Cook for a few minutes until the onions are tender. 2. Add the ground turkey and cook until the meat browns. Be sure to mix it around in the onions and garlic to help it soak up the flavors. 3. Once the turkey has browned, add the can of crushed tomatoes to the pot and mix well. Let it heat for a minute or two, and then add the drained cans of beans (here's another opportunity for variety-- we used dark kidney beans and organic chili beans, which we bought at Whole Foods, but you can use whatever you like if you want some variety.) Mix well and let the mixture heat. 4. After another minute or so, add in the seasonings. We added 2 …

Continuing our month of healthy, resolution-conscious recipes, this week we're featuring an easy family-pleasing chili dish.

Once the new year really gets going, resolutions sometimes get pushed aside. If you made a promise to be healthier this year, check out this week's turkey chili recipe. It's also the perfect meal to make on a cold winter night when you want something to warm you up! Here are the ingredients you'll need, which can be found at Stop and Shop or Tom's Market: You can also add vegetables to this recipe if you want to kick up the flavor and make it that much healthier.
