Charlestown PD Investigates Crash That Seriously Injured Coventry Woman
Coventry resident Melissa Verrecchia's vehicle was allegedly struck on Rt. 1 Friday morning.
According to reports from The Westerly Sun, a preliminary investigation into a crash that seriously injured Coventry resident Melissa M. Verrecchia, 42, early Friday morning, indicated that a man driving through a red traffic light struck her car. Charlestown Police Chief Jeff Allen told The Westerly Sun that a reconstruction team will continue its investigation of the accident, but that early indicators suggest Verrecchia was at the light facing Wildflower Drive at Route 1 when William Thompson, 67, of South Kingstown, drove through the red light while headed south on Route 1 and hit her car.
