The following is from a press release. Due to the excessive snow from the winter storm and from rainfall on Monday, some private wells may be impacted. The warming station will be closed at 6 p.m. on Sunday.
The Town of Coventry Emergency Management Staff (EMA) in cooperation with all Emergency Response Agencies, the Department of Public Works and Human Services Agencies of the Town of Coventry are maintaining services during the aftermath of Winter Storm Nemo. NOTICE: The Town of Coventry SHELTER at the Coventry Senior Center located at 50 Wood St., has been downgraded to a WARMING STATION. We ask that those responding bring blankets and pillows. The warming station will not allow pets. Those interested in utilizing the station may call the Senior Center at 822-9180 or the Coventry Police Department at 826-1100. Joker got out of the house Friday morning before the storm.
Update - 8:15 p.m.: Linda contacted Coventry Patch to let everyone know that Joker has returned home and is safe and sound. "Joker is home! Not sure who's happier........me or the dog," she said. "I don’t know how he survived out there but we’re all glad he did." 3:45 p.m.: Linda's indoor cat, Joker, got out of the house in the Tiogue area of town on Friday morning before the blizzard hit. He is not currently wearing a collar or tags. Please contact Linda at (401) 595-5682 if you have seen Joker or have any information on where he might be.

The blizzard has stopped, the sky is clear, and now you have to clear some snow. Shoveling or snow-blowing your driveway is one thing. But clearing the snow off your roof can be a challenge. Here are some tips to read before you do. 1. Dress appropriately. Wear layers, so you can stay warm but also not have your movement impeded by overly thick clothing. 2. Wear sunglasses. You'll be looking up much of the time, and a clear winter sky after a snowstorm tends to have a very bright sun. As expected, Rhode Islanders are experiencing widespread power outages. More than 2,600 are in the dark in Coventry.
Roughly 2,680 in Coventry and more than 180,000 homes across the state are in the dark at this hour as the blizzard of 2013 begins to dissipate. About 2,400 of the outages in the Coventry area are in the Pulaski St./West Warwick/Centerville area and have been out since Friday evening. With snowfall increasing and winds picking up before midnight, power outages began to spring up across the state as Rhode Island was hit by the worst of the blizzard. According to National Grid's power outage map, more than 187,000 Rhode Islanders are without power as of Saturday morning and many may be in the dark for days as restoration efforts are underway.
