Crews Extinguish Saturday Brush Fire

The damage was minimal, however residents should be reminded to take caution and abstain from any open burning during dry, windy weather.

At approximately 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, three engines from Central Coventry Fire Department and one from Anthony Fire Department responded to a brush fire at 1650 Flat River Rd., on a half acre section of land between Rebuilder's Automotive Supply and Industrial Dr. Chief Bob Seltzer of CCFD said that several magazines and pieces of trash were found in the area that suggest a possible gathering place for locals, however no fort or structure was found as in similar recent fires. "We knocked it down pretty quick and the damage was minimal - mainly just grass," said Seltzer. "It was a very small area compared to everything else we've responded to lately."
