Animal Control Officers are notifying nearby residents.
On Wednesday morning, Animal Control was notified of a brown female Domestic Shorthair cat with tiger stripes in the area of Francis and Holden streets. Officers responded to a report that the cat had scratched a dog on the paw while it was outside and had earlier scratched a nearby resident on the knee. The owner of the dog contained the cat in a cage until officers arrived and transported the animal back to Animal Control, where it tested positive for rabies. Officer Jessica Zakowski urged residents not to feed feral animals and stay clear of any stray kittens they may encounter, as the rabid cat may have recently given birth. The officers at Coventry Animal Control have seven adorable and playful kittens ranging in age from seven weeks to six months that are all looking for loving homes. Most of the kitties are girls, but there are a couple boys in the mix. Either way, you'll fall in love the second you lay eyes on them! The two six-month-old kitties have been vaccinated and neutered, and the younger ones can be adopted for $40, $30 of which is refunded once they are spayed/neutered.
