A bid package complete with project diagrams and photos was presented to and approved by the School Building Committee on Wednesday.
At the their latest meeting, members of the Coventry School Building Committee met with Torrado Architects Owner Luis Torrado and Vice President Brian O'Connell to discuss the progress that has been made on the planning and engineering of five school improvement projects that the company was contracted for in March. "We're doing very well and staying with our schedule," said Torrado. During the meeting, O'Connell presented to the Committee design development and schematic designs for each of the schools where work will be performed. Among them was an asbestos abatement plan correlating with state health department requirements which illustrated asbestos-ridden areas of the schools, including various roof and floor tile locations at …

CHS Senior Supper: This year's Coventry High School Senior Supper will take place on Wednesday, May 22 at Quidnessett Country Club. The event showcased many types of student artwork created during the school year.
Family and friends of Blackrock Elementary School students came out in droves on Monday night for the school's "Night of the Arts", held at Coventry High School. Visitors were able to view exhibits of student artwork from various grades and listen to musical selections from the 4th and 5th grade bands, 3rd and 4th grade recorder ensemble and chorus.

Blackrock students exceeded their Pennies for Patients collection goal for the sixth consecutive year.
From March 11-28, students at Blackrock Elementary School, along with friends and family members, rounded up their loose change for a good cause. This was the school's sixth year participating in the Pennies for Patients collection that benefits the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's efforts to find a cure and provide a better quality of life for cancer and blood disease patients and their families. Keeping with tradition, the faculty challenged students to meet a $2,500 monetary goal, and for the sixth year they succeeded, this time with a grand total of $3,992 at the end of the three-week program. Members of the Coventry High School Boys' and Girls' Track teams performed well at the statewide Rick Schomp meet on Saturday.
On Saturday, May 4, athletes from the CHS Boys' and Girls' Track teams made their community proud with their performances in the 2013 Rick Schomp Track and Field Invitational held at Curtis Corner Middle School in South Kingstown. The 19-event state meet qualifier is held annually in memory of Rick Schomp, Brown University athlete, dedicated teacher and coach at Chariho and South Kingstown schools.
