Watcher, I support the I-Plege campaign 100%. I took the job as a teacher because I was concernedRead More for our future, and because I truly thought I could make a difference in each students life. Not because of tenure, seniority, summers off, or pensions (which I believe are not fair to taxpayers. I would rather receive a 401k, and pay into Social Security and Medicare, the same as my neighbors in the private sector, but I digress.) I did not post a comment because I figured it was self-evident that EVERY teacher only wants the best for our students, period. I am in favor of merit-based pay and any other measure if the powers-at-be determine that it will help students. Prior to becoming a teacher I was in sales, and as a salesman, the better you are the more you get paid. I think teachers should be treated the same way. This provides incentive to go above-and-beyond, therefore elevating student achievement in my mind. I don't necessarily agree with all of the evaluation methods, but I will do what is required of me by my employer, the Department of Education and the taxpayers. If you wanted to know my position Watcher, you could have just called or emailed and asked me, I would have gladly told you. I suppose I should thank you for giving me a platform so I could share my opinion with everyone. And for the "tea" comment, I do not follow, please explain.

Mr. Anderson, I ‘m glad to see you support Representative Tomasso’s efforts andRead More recognize the hard work she is doing on your behalf. As you should have gleaned from the comments of Taxpayer and Voter, not everyone recognizes the challenges teachers face every day. In addition, no need to thank me for the opportunity to express your thoughts; the comment section was always available, you just should have availed yourself of it without having to be prodded. My comment was really directed at Taxpayer’s comment and only indirectly at you, as you should have corrected the misinformed belief immediately. By the way, you probably want to stay away from excuses such as, “I figured it was self-evident” which translates to I assumed; as a teacher you should know what happens when one assumes. The “TEA” comment refers to those, such as yourself, that subscribe to the Tea Party Ideology and love to sign off with the trademark… Nuff Said

With all due respect, I would appreciate it if you didn't put words in my mouth. Second, I am aRead More free-thinking adult, and I do not subscribe unconditionally to any group or ideology. I support a plan that will help our small business owners succeed so that they can grow their business, and hire more employees. I support a plan to stop spending money that we don't have. I want a state that will lower taxes in an effort to reduce the burden on our hard working families. I support a number of measures that I hope will make our state one of the greatest places in the nation for our families. That's not an ideology, it's common sense, and it's my goal. I very rarely post on the Patch. When I do, I do so using my real name as I have nothing to hide, so I'm not sure why you're including me with the way someone else posts. Either way, I'm glad you see that you take an interest in staying current on local issues, as it is extremely important for our citizens to be informed. I hope you have a great weekend. Should you have any questions, concerns or ideas on how to better our state, please feel free to email me anytime at electkeithanderson@gmail.com Thank you, Keith Anderson Candidate for State Representative - District 29 - Coventry and West Greenwich

I just received this info from Randolph Savings Bank: "Randolph Savings Bank employees wereRead More extremely upset to hear about the break-in and burglary that occurred at the Rams concession stand at Rice Field over the weekend. Randolph's senior management team was made aware of this crime first thing this morning and they responded immediatley with approval of a $1500 donation to cover the cost of replacing the stolen food and beverages. Ken Cloutier will be picking up a check this morning at the Bank's Cranston Office from Branch Manager Sandra Horton." Wow, it's great to see local people and businesses doing such generous things!
