This Weekend: Santa's Coming to Town, Holiday Happenings and More

Here are just a handful of ideas to kickstart your weekend planning.

Santa Claus is Coming to Town! Beginning Thursday night, Dec. 19 with CCFD, all four of Coventry's fire districts will be chauffeuring Santa Claus himself across town to greet and wish residents a Merry Christmas. He will be complete several routes and stops both Saturday and Sunday this week. Click here to view the schedule and route for each district.

Weekend Fun at CPL: On Saturday mornings, the Coventry Public Library hosts Drop-In Crafts to Make & Take where children of all ages can create a fun craft project to take him. Also offered on Saturday mornings is Drop-In Games, during which kids of any change can play board games with friends. No registration required.

Breakfast with Santa: At 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, the Coventry-West Greenwich Elks Lodge, located at 42 Nooseneck Hill Road, will host Breakfast with Santa! In addition to a visit with the big man in red himself, the family event will feature breakfast, games and raffles. Space is limited. Call 397-3700 after 4 p.m. to make your reservation.

Hopkins Hill Holiday Happenings: Originally scheduled for last weekend, Hopkins Hill School's Holiday Happenings will now take place Saturday, Dec. 21 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The annual event will feature live entertainment, "Main Street" local vendors, kids crafts and games, face painting, cake bingo, Santa's Toy Chest, raffles and of course, visits with Santa! WCFD Open House: From 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, the Western Coventry Fire District will hold an Open House at Summit Station, located at 1110 Victory Highway in Greene. Residents are invited to check out the district's new rescue, take a tour of the station and more while enjoying refreshments. Click here for details.

Elks Christmas Craft Bazaar: From 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, the Coventry-West Greenwich Elks Lodge, located at 42 Nooseneck Hill Rd., West Greenwich, will hold a Christmas Craft Bazaar. Come do some last-minute shopping or grab a few stocking stuffers! Stay for the Open House at 6 p.m. to tour the Lodge, too!

Beginner Line Dancing: From 6-8 p.m. every Sunday night through June 8, the Coventry-West Greenwich Elks Lodge, located at 42 Nooseneck Hill Road in West Greenwich, will hold Beginner Line Dancing Classes. Cost is $6 per person. All ages are welcome. Call Lori at 821-4361 or the Lodge at 397-3700 for more information. Proceeds benefit Elks charities.
