Monday Essentials: Town, School, Fire Meetings, Cub Scout Recruitment and More

Today is Monday, Sept. 9, 2013 and here are some things to know about the week ahead.

Town Council Meeting: The Coventry Town Council will meet in Council Chambers at Town Hall Monday at 7 p.m. Click here to view tonight's agenda.
Goat Milk Soap Workshop: Have you discovered the benefits of Goat Milk Soap yet? At 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, New England Farm and Artist, 1112 Main St., will hold a soap-making workshop taught by Tammy and Denise of Rustic Goat Soaps. Pack 11 Recruitment: Cub Scout Pack 11 of Coventry is seeking new members. From 6:30-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 10, the pack will hold a recruitment drive at Saints John & Paul Parish Center (341 South Main St., Coventry). Stop by to learn about all that Cub Scouting has to offer!

School Committee Meeting: Members of the Coventry School Committee will meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the School Administration Offices (1675 Flat River Road). Click here to view this evening's agenda.

School Building Committee Meeting: At 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, the Coventry School Building Committee will meet at the School Administration Offices (1675 Flat River Road) to discuss construction updates, invoice approvals and more. Click here to view the meeting agenda.

CCFD Board Meeting: Members of the Central Coventry Fire District Board of Directors will meet at 7 p.m. on Wednesday evening in the Town Hall Annex auditorium (1675 Flat River Road) to discuss district business including the setting of a date and procedures for the CCFD Annual Financial Meeting in compliance with the request of Judge Brian P. Elks Fall Pitch Card League: The Coventry-West Greenwich Elks Lodge (42 Nooseneck Hill Road, West Greenwich) will hold its Fall Pitch (Hi-Lo-Jack) Card League on Thursday, Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. and will continue at that time each Thursday. Cost is $5 per person per week. All adults welcome. At the end of the season, prizes will be handed out at an awards dinner. For more information, call Denise at 226-5053.

Greene Homestead Tours: Did you know that Spring 2013 marked the Nathanael Greene Homestead's 89th season as a museum? Take a tour at 50 Taft St. in Coventry to learn all about Revolutionary War General Nathanael Greene, who built and lived in the home, known as Spell Hall, from 1770 to 1776. Tours are given Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays, from 1-5 p.m. Click here to visit the Homestead's Facebook page for more information.
