Hole-In-One Made at CGSL Golf Tournament

The lucky shot won a West Warwick police officer $10,000.

The Coventry Girls Softball League held their 6th annual golf tournament on Saturday, August 18 at Wood River Golf Club.

It was a rainy day and the players braved the elements at the fundraising event. Very early in the tournament, there was a very loud roar heard around the course emanating from the 7th hole, and almost immediately cell phones started ringing all over the course.

On that 7th hole, a 217 yard par 3, Jim Tiernan (a West Warwick Police Officer) used his driver to sink his tee shot into the hole for a cash prize of $10,000, which caused the ruckus heard round the course.

The Hole-In-One insurance was purchased by Councilman Carl Mattson from Hole-In-One International, who has been a long time supporter of the CGSL and a former assistant coach for the tee ball division.
