Coventry Residents Join Providence Mayor Taveras at RWMS Transformation Day

As new school year approaches, more than 323 volunteers continued revitalization efforts at Roger Williams Middle School during third annual school "Transformation Day."

On Friday, August 3, Coventry residents Jillian Galenski, Justin Rozzero and Ron Morales joined Providence Mayor Angel Taveras and more than 320 volunteers to transform Roger Williams Middle School in Providence - just in time for the start of the school year.

Mayor Taveras joined employee volunteers from Fidelity Investments and Serve Rhode Island, a HandsOn Network local action center, in the third annual Transformation Day at his alma mater, Roger Williams Middle School. Volunteers completed close to 1,900 hours of service during this day-long effort, including landscaping, carpentry, painting, and other repairs to improve the overall physical environment of the school.

Volunteers also painted the image of the new school mascot – selected after a Fidelity-sponsored mascot contest – on the gym floor. This new mascot was on-hand to cheer on the school restoration and beautification activities, and will be part of school pride all year long.
