From Worst to First, Sox Return to Postseason

The Boston Red Sox host the Tampa Bay Rays today in game 1 of a best-of-5 series. How do you think the Sox will fare in the 2013 payoffs?

A year ago at this time, Red Sox players were cleaning out their lockers and getting ready to hit the golf course after posting one of the worst records in the American League — 69-93.

What a difference a year makes.

Today, instead of making tee times, the Sox players are taking batting practice ahead of the start of the 2013 playoffs at Fenway Park at 3 p.m. After posting 97 wins, the Sox are the top team in the Major League and in the playoffs for the first time in four years. They will host old rivals Tampa Bay Rays in the first game of a best-of-5 American League Division Series today.

Behind the strong pitching of starters John Lester, John Lackey and Clay Bucholtz, one of the best bullpens in all of baseball led by unexpected closer Koji Uehara, and a balanced lineup top to bottom, the Red Sox enter the playoffs as the favorites to win it all in 2013.

So what's your prediction? Is this the year the Red Sox win it all, or will the season come to a disappointing end in round 1, or something in between? Let us know in the comments section below.
