Coventry Player Wins State Title at 2012 Pitch, Hit & Run Competition

Coventry Cal Ripken player, Jason Desjarlais took home the Hitting title.

 

Coventry resident Jason Desjarlais took home a state title in the 2012 Pitch, Hit & Run competition during a recent on-field pre-game awards ceremony at McCoy Stadium. Jason was the Hitting champion for the 7-8 year old division.

Hosted by Dunkin’ Donuts, the Pawtucket Red Sox, and CW 28, Pitch, Hit & Run is the official skills competition of Major League Baseball. The program provides boys and girls across the country, ages 7-14, with the opportunity to participate in an exciting baseball skills competition, showcasing their pitching, hitting and running abilities.

Competitions were held throughout the state in the spring, and an All-Around Champion, a Pitching Champion, a Hitting Champion, and a Running Champion in each age group (7-8, 9-10, 11-12 & 13-14) were named. Winners advanced to the Sectional Championship at McCoy Stadium. Winners of the Sectional Championship competed in the Team Championship at Fenway Park, followed by the National Finals during All-Star week.
