School Officials Urge Parents, Guardians to Register For Emergency Notifications

The systems allow school officials to quickly share notifications regarding early dismissal, school cancellations and other emergency alerts.

With Mother Nature having already dropped several inches of snow and icy conditions on the region in recent weeks, Coventry school officials are urging parents and guardians to sign up to be notified of emergencies and other important news using the district's community notification system.

Coventry Public Schools now use both Rhode Island Broadcasters Association and Rapid Notify systems in addition to automated phone calls. While the RI Broadcasters Association will be used primarily for emergencies, the Rapid Notify system will be used for emergencies and informational purposes.

While registering, parents should be sure to check off both their child's individual school and Coventry Public Schools. Checking off both allows contact information to be stored in two different email banks to allow school officials to better communicate with the appropriate intended audience. Parents or guardians with more than one child, should check off all respective schools.
