New ASFMS Principal Appointed by School Committee

Dr. Arthur Lisi will take the reigns at Alan Shawn Feinstein Middle School in the fall.

During Wednesday's meeting of the Coventry School Committee, members approved the appointment of Dr. Arthur Lisi as Principal at Alan Shawn Feinstein Middle School for the 2013-2014 school year, effective July 25.

Prior to his appointment, Dr. Lisi spent more than two decades within the Coventry school district, teaching sixth grade at Blackrock Elementary School from 1989-1994, before beginning a nine-year stretch as a guidance counselor at the middle school. From 2003-2010, he served as Coventry High School's Guidance Curriculum Coordinator/Assistant Principal of Student Support Services before returning to ASFMS as Assistant Principal. 

Dr. Lisi received his bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Rhode Island, as well as his master's in Counselor Education/Student Personnel Services. In 2003, he completed the URI-RIC Joint Doctoral Program, earning a doctorate in Philosophy with a major in Education.

"Arthur is probably the most passionate and committed professional that I've ever met," said Superintendent and former ASFMS principal Michael Almeida. "He works hours upon hours and works tirelessly to make Feinstein Middle School a better place."

"I'm honored, I'm humbled and I'm so thankful to be here," said Dr. Lisi to Committee members. "My 25 years in this district have been a blessing and I thank you very much for giving me this opportunity to lead a flagship school for cutting edge instruction. I'm looking forward to it."

Lisi will be replacing ASFMS principal Jennifer Roy, who recently resigned from the position, electing instead to serve as assistant principal.
