Just reading over the commentary it's very easy to see who are the union shills and who are the concerned parents . I've told you union sheep every dept. in this town has major league problems and it's nice to see some new blood here giving you union lap dogs a few wacks where it hurts . I also see the very nice judge in the judiciary branch saying the legislature has no business with the dealings in the CCFD scam fiasco . I told you union sheep this but oh you sheep are highly under educated in so many things but I am not amazed but how can a child get by being poor in math in this day and age . Do not ask any of the union sheep here as they bow to their fellow union shills as far as they can so the others get a good view of their other side .

let me give an example of how we are failing our children in math. i know of a 1st grader in coventry. on the homework, the problem is 80+3=?. they have to draw a "math sentence" where they draw big lines for 10's and small boxes for 1's. it takes about 15 seconds for the student to do this. why would they not just teach the child to add it and be done in 3 seconds?? this is not the teachers fault, its the dept of education's fault. we are dumbing down our children and we wonder why our kids are at 32%. chinese children are engineering rockets in 4th grade. we do this to ourselves because you have to slow down the class to the lowest performing child. "no child left behind" indeed. "no child allowed to excel" is more like it.

I can't believe I'm going to say this...but Hatter is spot on..... We are indeed teaching our kids not to think..... "new math" is the worst thing I've seen in the schools since I was there. Time to say no to this madness and actually teach our kids to think!!!

The reason why the kids are failing miserably in math is the same reason why those that fail have done so forever . It's laziness and it's inbred into the current system . These results call for massive firings and a rebuilding of the school system on a whole but again as always the blame has to go to the leadership .
