CHS Celebrates Homecoming Weekend 2013

Homecoming festivities kick off on Friday with the annual football game.

Coventry High School will be celebrating homecoming on Oct. 25 and 26, 2013. The events are coordinated by the Student Council in cooperation with the athletic department.   

On Friday, the Knotty Oakers football team will take on division rival Mount Hope High School at 7 p.m. at CHS. Half time will activities will include cheerleading routines, band selections, introduction of 2014 CHS Athletic Hall of Fame nominees, and introduction of the homecoming king and queen candidates.

Saturday, Oct. 26 will begin with the annual homecoming parade, whose theme this year is Disney animated movies. The parade will step off from the Alan Shawn Feinstein Middle School (15 Foster Dr.) at 10:45 a.m. From there, it will proceed to Knotty Oak Road, Route 117, Sandy Bottom Road, Wood Street, Rathbun Street, South Main Street, Tiogue Avenue, and Reservoir Road, where it will conclude at the high school. 

The parade will include floats from the four classes, the student council, the world language club and DECA. In addition, the high school marching band will perform, joined by CHS football cheerleaders and the AFJROTC Color Guard. Rounding out the parade will be convertibles transporting the homecoming king and queen finalists, as well as several fire trucks.

On Saturday evening the themed semiformal Homecoming dance, "An Evening of Enchantment" will be held from 7-10 p.m., in the high school gymnasium. During the dance, last year's Homecoming king and queen, Tyler Vigeant and Sydney Dwyer will crown the 2013 king and the queen.
