7:49 p.m.: There WILL be regular trash/recycling pickup tomorrow (Monday) and the Coventry parking ban will be lifted at 8 a.m.

5:17 p.m.: Coventry Public Schools are closed tomorrow. 12-month employees report.

3:55 p.m.: Coventry EMA officials have announced the closure of the town's warming shelter at 6 p.m. Those who may require shelter are urged to call the Coventry Police Department at 826-1100.

8:50 a.m.: Coventry EMA officials have downgraded the Town's shelter to a warming station as of Sunday morning. Click here for more details.

Sunday, Feb. 10 --

3:15 p.m.: The Town of Coventry will be opening a shelter at the Coventry Senior Center located at 50 Wood St. today at 4 p.m. Those responding are asked to bring blankets and pillows. The shelter will not allow pets. Those interested in utilizing the shelter should call 822-9180.

3:05 p.m.: Based on the positive progress made clearing RI roadways, Governor Chafee has decided to lift the travel ban on RI roadways at 4 p.m. today.

1:14 p.m.: Effective immediately, Governor Lincoln Chafee has granted limited access for travel for those individuals who do not currently have access to heat, electricity or require immediate life safety needs. Other non-emergency travel is still subject to the statewide traffic restriction at this time.

9:30 a.m.: Coventry Patch Facebook users have reported snowfall amounts ranging from 20 inches in the Hopkins Hill area to 30 inches in Western Coventry. Roughly 2,680 homes are without power in Coventry and nearly 187,000 throughout Rhode Island, according to National Grid. Click here for more Saturday morning blizzard info.

Saturday, Feb. 9 --

11:27 p.m.: According to National Grid's outage map, it looks like there's about 150 customers without power across town, except for the Pulaski St./West Warwick area where there are roughly 2,400 outages reported.

7:43 p.m.: A reported blown transformer on Read Ave. is causing power outages in that vicinity. Click here to check National Grid's Power Outage map.

4:45 p.m.: Due to safety concerns, Governor Lincoln D. Chafee has restricted motor vehicle travel on Routes I-95, I-195, RI-146, RI-24 and I-295 beginning at 5 p.m. tonight (Friday) and continuing until further notice. Click here for exceptions.

4:00 p.m.: A warming center will be available at the Coventry Senior Center (50 Wood St.), from 4 p.m. this evening throughout the storm.

1:15 p.m.: Town Council President Gary Cote has declared a State of Emergency for Coventry. Click here to view the rest of the Coventry EMA release.

10:03 a.m.: Coventry Town Hall and Public Library will close today (Friday) at noon and will reopen on Monday, Feb. 11 at 9 a.m. (Note: The library will NOT be open on Saturday or Sunday.) 

Friday, Feb. 8 —

7:53 a.m.

  • The blizzard watch issued for the last few days has been up graded to a blizzard warning, according to the town's EMA. 
  • Gov. Lincoln Chafee has put the state's Adverse Weather Policy into effect — time missed from work during the storm has to be recorded as time off without pay, annual leave, or personal leave.
  • All RIPTA service, including non-medical RIde trips, will suspend at noon.

10:30 p.m.: All About Kids Too: Closed Friday

9:11 p.m.: There will be trash and recycling pickup on Friday. DPW crews will begin collection at 6 a.m. in order to beat the heavy snow.

8:47 p.m.: Greenwich Village School: Closed Friday

3:40 p.m.: Click here for a list of important telephone numbers to keep on hand during the storm.

3:00 p.m.: 

  • Pathways Strategic Teaching Center: Closed Friday
  • Coventry Senior Center: Closed Friday, No elderly meals

2:50 p.m.: Coventry Police have issued a Parking Ban effective midnight tonight until further notice.

2:40 p.m.: No classes tomorrow. Coventry public schools are closed on Friday, the School Department announced Thursday afternoon.

1:14 p.m.: Coventry Patch Facebook user Colleen Medeiros shared that Cumberland Farms on Tiogue Ave is out of gasoline.

12:17 p.m.: Kent YMCA School's Out of Coventry: Closed Friday

10:44 a.m.: 

  • Saints John and Paul: Friday Adoration, 5 p.m. Mass and Saturday's 7:30 a.m. Mass have been cancelled.
  • Creative Child: Friday pick-up will be at 11:30 a.m.. No transportation will be available.

Feb. 7. - 8:54 a.m.: Keep checking this page for updates about Winter Storm Nemo's progress and how it is affecting Coventry. Aside from the usual government and town agency posts that will be presented to you, this is where you can find school and business closings as well as downed trees and power lines, power outages and other dangerous situations.
