In the race for President of the United States, influential Rhode Island political insiders have weighed in regarding who has run the better "ground game" in Rhode Island leading up to the election during our latest Red Rhody/Blue Rhody political survey.

According to our results, Democratic influencers felt Obama has run a better ground campaign by a wide margin while a majority of Republican influencers surveyed said the ground campaign up to this point has been even.

In 2008, Rhode Island voted Democratic with 296,571 voters casting ballots for the Obama-Biden team. Republican John McCain and Sarah Palin earned 165,391 votes. According to the Rhode Island Secretary of State's office nearly 475,000 ballots were cast in 2008, breaking the record set back in 1992 of 453,477.

12:30 a.m. It was a good night for Democrats in Rhode Island Tuesday. David Cicilline, James Langevin and Sheldon Whitehouse all won re-election. Click here to read more about their victories.

8:40 p.m. Voters in Rhode Island on Tuesday cast their ballot for Barack Obama, giving him the state's 4 Electoral votes. Click here to read more on the story.

12:15 p.m. Heavy traffic is being blamed for slowing down the Rhode Island Secretary of State's website Tuesday morning as voters flocked to the site to check out their polling locations. According to officials at the office, the site is back up and running. One of the possibilities for the heavy traffic could be due to the recent changes in the realignment of political districts and people looking to find where their polling station was located.

11:34 a.m. According to numerous media reports, Rhode Island residents were facing long lines at some polling places Tuesday morning. In two polling places, the wrong ballots were in place at the stations.  Officials said the incorrect ballots were delivered by the state Board of Elections for two polling places, West Kingston Elementary School in South Kingstown and Elks Lodge in West Warwick. Voting was delayed in each location, and some voters left without casting a ballot, according to town officials. The correct ballots were later delivered. Check out more of this story on our North Kingstown Patch site.

Most people do not totally read the bond issues or initiatives that they are voting on. And they certainly do not research them or look to see who is backing these propositions. No time is taken to see just who these issues protect, support or promote. Calif. had an initiative that was proposed by a group and if it had passed that group would have profited. Most or all people saw thru this legalize curtain.

MJ there are 7 of YOUR facts that are wrong. Sounds like you need to follow your own advice as stated in the latter part of your paragraph. You need to stop listening to Rush Limbago the almighty.

William F Horan & cernernut... sounds too like your side couldn't muster enough people to vote for the rhetoric and misstatements. They saw thru the wall of flame the republicans threw up.

Jim R... and.... don't you think that is what the Dems are trying to get done.... have Mitt, Barak and all the fat cats to release some of their wealth. Most of the wealthy are not going to look after you or me. Hmmm, let's see now.. There could certainly be some fireman, police and certainly some illegal immigrants as well as teachers on welfare. Give it some more thought for a better answer or a better question or a better argument.
