After nearly a year without, the Town of Coventry now has a new Department of Public Works Director in Kevin McGee, who will assume his new position on Nov. 4.

McGee, a lifelong Coventry resident, brings to the position 25 years of site construction experience which he earned during his employment with R.T. Nunes & Sons of West Warwick where he served as General Manager.

Apart from being a lifetime resident of the Town, McGee is also familiar with the inner workings of Coventry having formerly served as town council president from 1998 to 2002, chairman of both the planning board and democratic town committee, as well as a member of the redevelopment commission, personnel board and housing authority. He has also served as a board member for the Utility Contractors of Rhode Island and the Pawtuxet Valley Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Center.

McGee will take the DPW reins from Town Manager Tom Hoover who has been serving as acting director since Bob Clarkin's departure from the post last December.
