Other facts

I am the mother of three young boys, lifelong Rhode Islander and Coventry resident for the past 18 years. During those 18 years I have served the residents of our community in a multitude of capacities including adult literacy volunteer tutor, PTA President at Hopkins Hill School, PTSA member Feinstein Middle School, Soccer Coach and CSA Volunteer of the Year 2007. In 2008 I was elected to the Coventry School Committee where I chaired the Alternative Funding for Public Education Sub-Committee. The establishment of the Coventry Public Education Foundation, which I am a founding member, is a product of that effort. In 2010 I was elected to the RI House of Representatives where I serve on the House Health, Education and Welfare Committee, House Environment and Natural Resources Committee, Joint Committee for Economic Development and the Joint Committee on Municipal Sharing. In addition to my official Representative assignments I currently serve as a member of the State-wide Race to the Top Steering Committee,Board Member of the Nathanael Greene Homestead and was recently honored by the RI Council on Alcoholism and Other Drug Dependents as the Community Service Award recipient for 2012. Since being elected to state office I have corresponded with over one thousand residents and worked with local manufacturers, large and small, to secure public policies which will maintain and promote local job growth. I have co-sponsored several bipartisan pieces of legislation and fought for tax relief for working families and businesses in both Coventry and West Greenwich.
