CCFD: Richard Land Explains Public Safety Committee Meeting

Land and local emergency service personnel will discuss possible options and outcomes for the Central Coventry Fire District.

In response to a recent notice on Coventry Patch from John Assalone, CCFD Special Master Richard Land explained the purpose behind Friday's Public Safety Committee Meeting at Town Hall at 2 p.m.

Land explained that the reason for holding the meeting, which will include a group of individuals from the emergency response field, CCFD Board members Joe Bonn, Marie Fisher and David Jervis, is to discuss all of the possible options that would be available IF the Central Coventry Fire District ceased operation for any reason.

"The point of this meeting is to understand at least what the short term options are if that were to happen," said Land. "This is about emergency services and I need the professionals that participate in the field to come to the meeting and discuss how they could deal with the process."

Land explained that the meeting is not "closed" to the public or the press, but residents should know that it is a working meeting for the purpose of brainstorming, not a policy meeting, and that there will be no voting on any topics.

"There's no intent to close anyone out," he said. "I do intend to share financial information with the public on Monday, but I want to share information that I am comfortable with and am not interested in putting out misinformation."

Land will hold a meeting for the Central Coventry Fire District and its taxpayers on Monday, Dec. 10 at Coventry High School at 7 p.m. Click here to view the agenda.
