UPDATE: Victims Identified After West Greenwich Crash Leaves One Dead, Multiple Injuries

Police have identified the victims of the crash, including a Coventry woman who was killed as a result.

 

Dec. 9: Police have identified the five vehicle occupants involved in Saturday's crash.

The operator of the Nissan Murano was Dina D'Amico, 42, and the passenger was her mother, Kathleen D'Amico. Both women are from Pennsylvania and were traveling to visit family in Massachusetts.

Traveling in the rear of the GMC was Dorothy Corp, 77, of Coventry, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Operating the vehicle was her husband, Bruce Corp, 79, and in the front passenger seat was their son Bruce, 53, who both escaped the SUV with non-life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

2:31 p.m.: According to a RI State Police investigation, the crash occurred when a Nissan Murano carrying two individuals exited 95 North via Exit 6 and had begun crossing Rt. 3 when it struck a GMC SUV that was heading northbound, causing it to catch fire.

The GMC was carrying three occupants, two of which have been transported to Rhode Island Hospital and one, the rear seat occupant, who was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Both the passenger and driver of the Nissan have also been transported to Rhode Island Hospital for evaluation and treatment. The Murano is said to have a Pennsylvania registration.

State Police are still investigating the cause of the incident and are withholding the victims' identities until their families have been contacted.

1:35 p.m.: RIDOT has reported that the crash has been cleared and the area has been reopened to traffic in both directions.

The Medical Examiner is on scene, but no additional information on the incident has been released as of this posting.

11:47 a.m.: Coventry and West Greenwich police and fire crews along with Rhode Island State Police responded to a motor vehicle crash involving two vehicles shortly before 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Route 3 at Interstate 95 overpass in West Greenwich.

Police report one dead, multiple injuries and one vehicle fully engulfed in flames.

RIDOT has reported that the Exit 6 ramp for I-95 northbound is currently shut down at the location of the crash.
