WCFD to Host 12th Annual 'Burning of the Greene'

The fire district holds the event annually to celebrate the New Year.

On Saturday, Feb. 2 at 5:30 p.m., Coventry residents are invited to the Western Coventry Fire District's 12th Annual "Burning of the Greene" at the station located at 1110 Victory Hwy., Greene.

Friends, family and neighbors are invited to enjoy good food, good music and great company while WCFD members "light up the night" by burning a large brush pile consisting of discarded Christmas trees from Coventry homes. (Guests are invited to bring their discarded trees to add to the already growing pile.) If there is snow on the ground, sleds are a welcome part of the festivities along with food like dough boys, hot dogs, hot cocoa, popcorn and pastries.
