Semi Burns Outside Coventry Home Depot

Crews used a foam truck from Johnston to help put out the fire, which remains under investigation.

A tractor trailer burst into flames outside the Home Depot in Centre of New England Boulevard in Coventry Tuesday afternoon, destroying the truck but causing no significant damage to the store thanks to quick actions actions by firefighters.

Members of the Hopkins Hill Fire District, the Central Coventry Fire District, the Coventry Fire District responded to the scene at around 3:30 p.m.. along with mutual aid from Warwick, West Warwick and Johnston firefighters.

Crews used a foam truck from Johnston to help put out the fire when Hopkins Hill's supply ran out. 

The two-alarm fire  remains under investigation.

Hopkins Hill Fire Chief Frank Brown said the truck was unmanned and contained gas-powered equipment and numerous wooden pallets. 

Hundreds of gallons of diesel fuel burned as the fire engulfed the cab. Firefighters said they found the truck fully involved by the time they arrived.

Nobody was hurt in the blaze.
