Police Arrest Pair After CVS Break-in

Two Providence men were charged with breaking and entering after allegedly stealing cigarettes from the pharmacy on New London Turnpike over night.

Police arrested two Providence men charged with breaking into the CVS on New London Turnpike overnight, allegedly to cure what must have been a major nicotine fit.

Somsack Sithong, 30, of 25 Lavaugn St., Providence, and Darryl Henries, 42, of 270 Vermont Ave., Providence, are charged with breaking and entering and conspiracy after allegedly stealing packs of cigarettes from the Coventry pharmacy.

An alarm alerted Coventry officers to the CVS at 2250 New London Turnpike at about 3:30 this morning. While patrol units were responding, a witness near the scene, who said two men had just entered the front of the store after smashing the window out, then drove away in a grey Cadillac toward Interstate 95. Officer Matthew Leclerc chased the car onto the 95 northbound, joining Warwick officers in attempting to pull the Cadillac over. The suspects continued north into Providence, where officers from Providence assisted in arresting the pair on Narragansett Boulevard and Vermont Street. Police recovered several packs of cigarettes that were stolen from CVS, according to reports.
