LA Cop in #TylersTroops Video Dies in Line of Duty

Officer Nick Lee was killed in a crash while responding to a call.

A police officer who helped make a birthday video this week for a local boy fighting cancer died in the line of duty Friday.

Officer Nick Lee of the Los Angeles Police Department was killed when a dump truck slammed into his police cruiser in Beverly Hills, according to KTLA-TV.

Lee was 40 years old. He was responding to a call at the time of the crash.

Lee was one of several officers featured in a video his department put together for Tyler Seddon, a 7-year-old Pascoag boy battling leukemia. Tyler loves law enforcement and hundreds of police officers came together to wish him a happy birthday this week. They chronicled their efforts on social media with the #TylersTroops hashtag.

"Happy birthday," Lee told Seddon in the video. "We wish you well."

In Coventry, a bone marrow drive was held for Tyler earlier this week.
