Update: Fire Destroys Valiant Drive Mobile Home, Kills Pets, Residents Found Safe

Dec. 21, 7:16 a.m. According to the Rhode Island Red Cross who is assisting them, the couple who lived in the home arrived on scene as firefighters were bringing the blaze under control. The house was deemed a total loss as of Friday night.

Officials have confirmed that all emergency responders and civilians are safe and accounted for, however the couple did lose several pets in the incident including a cat, dove, guinea pig and turtle.

The fire's cause remains under investigation by Coventry Police and the State Fire Marshal.
7:18 p.m. According to neighbors, a couple lived in the home, but weren't sure if they were in the residence at the time of the incident. Officials said no one was found in the home during a preliminary search. 

The cause of the explosion and fire remain unknown, however it is said that the home was heated with a wood burning stove. The Fire Marshal and Coventry Police will return to the scene Saturday morning to continue investigating.

5:54 p.m. Fire officials will soon begin releasing companies from the scene, however crews expect to remain on scene for "an extended period of time". 

The incident will be turned over to the State Fire Marshal and Coventry Police Department for further investigation. 

5:53 p.m. Providence Canteen is on scene to provide for emergency responders.

5:51 p.m. Firefighters have brought the blaze under control but continue to work on scene. National Grid has disconnected power from the residence.

5:28 p.m. Officials have requested a representative from the Red Cross on scene, as well as Coventry Police Chief Bryan Volpe.

5:19 p.m. Scanner feed reports a rescue en route to Kent Hospital. No further details.
5:14 p.m. Crews have evacuated and all members are accounted for. National Grid expects to be on scene within 15 minutes.

5:08 p.m.
 All companies have been ordered to evacuate the home.

Update: 5:05 p.m. All responding fire companies were advised to use caution on scene as unidentified ammunition was going off within the structure due to the heat. National Grid electric has been requested.

5:01 p.m.:
 Shortly before 5 p.m. Friday, Coventry fire crews responded to a home at 20 Valiant Drive in Westwood Estates for a reported mobile home explosion.

According to scanner reports, the fire was fully involved with heavy smoke as emergency crews arrived on scene.
